Piedmont Fayette Hospital Closes West Lobby Entrance Feb. 2 for 90-Bed Tower Construction

Piedmont Fayette Hospital has officially launched construction on a new 90-bed patient tower as part of its $275 million campus expansion in Fayetteville. The multi-year project marks the largest capital investment at the hospital since it opened in 1997 and will support the continued growth of advanced medical and surgical services for a rapidly expanding region.

As construction moves forward, patients and visitors should prepare for temporary traffic pattern changes on campus beginning February 2, 2026. These updates will impact access to the West Lobby and several outpatient services. Below are important details to help you plan your next visit and navigate the campus safely and efficiently.

Traffic Advisory From Piedmont Hospital:

We are excited to announce Piedmont Fayette Hospital is beginning a construction project to build a new 90 bed patient tower to better serve the healthcare needs of our community.

This project will bring significant disruptions to our campus during the construction phase, so we want to ensure you are prepared next time you visit our campus:

  1. Beginning Feb. 2, 2026, and lasting for approximately eight weeks, the exterior entrance to the hospital’s WEST Lobby will be fully closed. There will be no vehicle drop-off/pickup or entering/exiting the hospital through this door.
  2. This closure will change how patients and visitors will arrive for surgical services, patient registration, other outpatient services and 1267 Medical Office Building appointments traditionally accessed through that lobby.
  3. To maintain an entrance on the West side of the building, we are redirecting all pedestrian and vehicle traffic to the Temporary West Entrance/Cole Family Plaza off the 2nd floor of the 1267 Medical Office Building.
  4. Around the end of April/beginning of May, a pedestrian “tunnel” will be available from Temporary West Entrance/Cole Family Plaza to the West Lobby Entrance. This will be in place for the duration of the multi-year construction project.
  5. We have updated our campus and facility maps to assist with wayfinding. Click here to access.
  6. Beginning the week of February 2, 2026, Surgery and Outpatient Services will discharge patients at the Radiology Patio, now referred to as Center Tower Patient Pick Up

Here are steps Piedmont Fayette is taking to assist our patients and visitors navigate the campus disruptions during this project:

  1. The ADA spaces lost due to the construction zone have been reestablished in parking areas outside Temporary West Entrance/Cole Family Plaza.
  2. Courtesy Cart shuttles will run continuously each weekday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to assist patients and visitors to and from all entrances.
  3. Staff members will be located at the Temporary West Entrance/Cole Family Plaza and within the building to assist patients and visitors.
  4. Additional campus directional signage can be found in the parking lots to assist visitors in finding these new entrances.
  5. If you are coming to Piedmont Fayette for an appointment, we recommend giving yourself additional time to park and reach your destination.
  6. If you need a courtesy cart on campus, or any assistance with wayfinding while you’re on campus, please call 770.719.6726.

We are very excited to start this project and thank you for your cooperation and patience.
