The Greater South Fulton Chamber of Commerce delivered an evening equal parts celebration, gratitude, and forward momentum at its 79th Annual Meeting and Awards Gala, drawing business leaders, elected officials, corporate partners, and community champions from across the region.
From the very first moment, the tone was set for something special. Mistress of Ceremony and City of Palmetto Mayor Teresa Thomas-Smith made a showstopping entrance—elegantly roller skating into the ballroom in her gown—instantly energizing the room. Her warmth, humor, and dynamic presence carried the audience seamlessly through a program filled with heartfelt tributes and proud milestones.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Legacy Award to Dyan Matthews, who recently retired after 15 years as President and CEO. Celebrated for her transformative leadership and steadfast dedication to South Fulton’s business community, Matthews’ accomplishments were presented by her son, Sherman Lofton, Jr., in a tribute that blended professional admiration with personal pride.
Walter Vinson, concluding 13 years of service as Board Chair, was honored with the Legend Award. William “Bill” Davenport reflected on Vinson’s steady leadership and enduring impact, crediting him with helping shape the Chamber’s modern foundation.
The ceremonial swearing-in of the 2026 Board of Directors by Judge Cassandra Kirk of the Fulton County Magistrate Court marked a symbolic turning point—signaling renewed commitment and shared vision for the year ahead.
Excellence in business and service was also recognized. Mercedes-Benz of Atlanta South was named Business of the Year for its continued partnership and investment in the Chamber. Greystone Power received the Cornerstone Award for its leadership in community development and innovation. Nikki Mack, honored as Chamber Champion, moved the audience with an emotional reflection on the mentors and relationships that fueled her entrepreneurial journey.
Premier sponsors Georgia Power, Greystone Power, and KP Law Group were recognized for their vital support.
The evening concluded with remarks from Board Chair John Culbreth and Interim President & CEO Kathy Booker, who expressed deep gratitude and unmistakable excitement for the Chamber’s next chapter—one rooted in Community. Connections. Commerce., and a bold vision for what’s next.
